Pumas of Patagonia 2026

Tour Details

Join me on an exclusive 9-night photography adventure in the breathtaking wilderness of Patagonia. Together with myself, focusing on videography, and renowned wildlife photographer Henrique Olsen, specialising in stills, you’ll have the rare chance to track and photograph wild pumas on foot within a private reserve, as well as explore the dramatic landscapes of Torres del Paine National Park.

While the puma will be our main subject, Patagonia offers so much more from herds of guanacos, a diversity of birdlife, and sweeping vistas of mountains, glaciers, and steppe that will inspire every frame.

This expedition is designed for photographers and nature enthusiasts of all levels who are seeking both adventure and artistry. With only 4 guests on this tour, you’ll enjoy plenty of space and personalised guidance. I’ll be sharing techniques to elevate your storytelling through video, while Henrique will work with you on creating powerful stills, ensuring you return with a portfolio that captures both movement and stillness in this wild corner of the world.

Each day is carefully planned to maximize our time in the field, balancing moments of patience and quiet observation with exhilarating encounters. We’ll be supported by expert trackers and local guides who know these lands intimately and who help us approach wildlife ethically and respectfully.

Whether it’s the intense gaze of a puma, the flight of an Andean condor, or the glow of sunset over Torres del Paine, this journey promises unforgettable encounters and images you’ll treasure for a lifetime.

Exclusive Workshops & Learning Sessions

  • Introductory lessons on the basics of stills photography and filmmaking, including lighting, composition, and storytelling techniques.

Tour Itinerary

Day 1

Today we will meet in the charming town of Puerto Natales, the gateway to Patagonia, where we’ll spend the night to rest and recover after your journey. Take some time to relax, enjoy the fresh Patagonian air, and settle into the rhythm of the expedition. In the evening, we’ll gather for an introductory session on photography and filmmaking, where Henrique and I will share insights into the techniques and approaches we’ll be using throughout the trip, setting the stage for the incredible days ahead.

Days 2 - 4

On the morning of Day 2, we’ll transfer to a lodge near Torres del Paine at about 7am. This will be our base for the next stage of the journey. Over the following three days, we’ll explore a private ranch renowned for its thriving population of wild pumas. With access to this land, we’ll set out each day on foot with skilled trackers, searching for and following these elusive cats in their natural habitat. Be prepared for walks across the sweeping Patagonian steppe, where encounters with guanacos, birdlife, and breathtaking vistas add to the experience. Each day in the field, we will to guide you to enhance your photographic journey, as well as helping you to capture any behind-the-scenes shots of you during your trip too.

Days 5-8

For the next four days, we’ll immerse ourselves in the breathtaking beauty of Torres del Paine National Park. Our safaris will primarily be by 4x4 vehicle (we will be in 2 different vehicles, split between myself and Henrique, to ensure you have a photographic guide with you at all times), with opportunities to step out and walk along short trails to reach the most scenic viewpoints. Each day, we’ll time our outings to make the most of sunrise and sunset, positioning ourselves in the park’s most iconic locations for dramatic landscape photography. Along the way, we’ll keep our eyes open for wildlife, our guides will be scanning constantly for pumas, as well as other species that roam these dramatic valleys, lakes, and mountains.

Day 9

After breakfast, we will head out for our final morning session in Torres del Paine National park to hopefully get once last glimpse of the pumas who we would have spent the past few days with. After lunch, we will head back to Puerto Natales, where we will spend the final night of the tour. On our last evening together, we will host 2 different workshops: one led by Henrique about editing still images, and a second led by myself about editing your footage into short films or surrounding digital content.

Day 10

This morning, we’ll share our goodbyes after an unforgettable journey together in Patagonia. As everyone begins their travels home, you’ll leave with not only a collection of powerful images and films, but also lasting memories of wild encounters, stunning landscapes, and the shared experience of exploring one of the most extraordinary places on Earth.

FAQS

'I am a beginner photographer, is it ok for me to join?'

Absolutely, yes! This tour is for people of all levels. On previous tours, I have had a complete mix from people with a couple of year’s experience, to someone who has only just got a camera for the trip, to someone that hasn't brought a camera at all and has just come to enjoy. All are welcome. The tour is designed for photographers in mind, meaning we will have extended hours in the field, with a focus on shooting at golden hour each day, for optimal photographic opportunities. I will also be giving camera advice and guidance throughout, but this is total optional if you would like to learn from me in this area or not during your time on the tour. It is for you to enjoy in the way you would like to.
